Gilbert's Gang
Gilbert's Gang has provided wrap around care for St Gilbert's Church of England Primary School since 1997. We started with two members of staff and 12 children and have now grown to twelve adults and up to 80 children per evening and 32 in the morning. We meet from 7.45am to the start of school and from the end of school to 6.00pm
Our aim is to provide a safe, caring environment where the children can meet up with their friends and have fun. We offer child initiated and structured play - both indoor and outdoor. The children are free to choose what they want to do and it is lovely to see them inventing their own games or making their own works of art from materials provided.
Because of the large numbers, we divide into two groups EYFS/KS1 and KS2. The younger children meet in the familiar environment of a Foundation Stage classroom and KS2 in the mobile (numbers permitting). Year 5.6 shared area is also used.
Within the early years, we work closely on getting to know the children, each reception child will be assigned a key worker who will work on helping them to settle in. We also work in conjunction with the school and your child’s class teacher this allows us to carry on their learning within our setting. With access to Tapestry, we can share a selection of your child’s WOW moments so you can also celebrate their achievements.
